Fionn Murtagh


Fionn Murtagh’s Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics, with Jean-Paul Benzécri, Université P. et M. Curie, Paris 6. Professor of Data Science in the University of Huddersfield, he will be Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Data Science. He is an elected member of the Royal Irish Academy, of Academia Europaea, and an elected Fellow of many scholarly organisations. He has published around 300 refereed papers and has been author or editor of around 30 books. Research themes are data science, big data analytics and related areas, including text semantics and narrative analy­tics, questionnaire and survey analytics, and, increasingly, ethical issues. A fundamental objective is integration of analytical methodology in the social sciences and other relevant domains.
